The Family

While Hutton Vale is part of the beautiful Eden Valley with a great sense of place it is the family that give it soul. George Fife Angas, often referred to as a founder of South Australia, sent his son John Howard Angas to SA in 1843 to oversee his business interests at the age of 19. He met his task admirably. One section of land, dear to his heart he named Hutton Vale, after a childhood association with country visits to the village of Hutton, near Essex, England. Set up all those years ago as a mixed farm growing everything from fruit to tobacco, sheep, cattle and grapes.

Six generations later John and his wife Jan continue the journey of toil, passion and nurturing, for the pleasures of premium produce. Their children, Suzi, Cait and Stuart, are the adult 7th generation, turning their hands to different tasks to shore up a positive future for Hutton Vale.
